Historic Fulton Market
1000 West Fulton Market was built as a cold storage warehousing facility in 1923. The building became the centerpiece of what was, at that time, a new meat and produce warehousing hub, soon replacing the South Water Street produce market area. Known for its famous “Fulton Market Cold Storage” painted signage clearly visible from onlookers to the East as well as Metra and “L” riders, the building is the tallest and most recognizable structure in the Fulton Market area.
